UAE business setup: common questions

Short answers, checked against UAE government sources. Ask about your own business on WhatsApp.Updated . Not tax advice.

How do I set up a business in the UAE?

Choose your business activity, pick a free zone or mainland setup, submit your owners' documents and apply for a trade licence. Once it is issued, apply for residence visas and a bank account. Finanshels handles each step and shows your first-year cost before you pay.

Can a foreigner own 100% of a UAE company?

Yes, in most cases. Free zones allow up to 100% foreign ownership, and mainland companies allow it in most activities. A few activities of strategic importance still need a UAE partner.

How much does it cost to set up a company in the UAE?

There is no single price. Cost depends on your business activity, number of visas, where you set up and your office space. Finanshels gives you an itemised first-year quote before you pay.

How long does company setup take in the UAE?

It depends on the authority, your activity and how quickly documents and approvals come through. Authorities set their own timelines, so we don't promise a fixed date. We tell you what comes next at every step.

What documents do I need to register a company in the UAE?

Passport copies, proof of address and shareholder details for every owner. Some activities and authorities ask for more, and we tell you exactly what yours needs.

Is a free zone or mainland company better?

A free zone often suits consultancies, online businesses and companies selling outside the UAE. A mainland licence often suits businesses serving customers across the UAE directly. Your business activity decides which fits.

Does a free zone company pay 0% Corporate Tax?

Only on qualifying income, and only while it meets every condition, including adequate UAE substance, limits on non-qualifying revenue, audited financial statements and transfer pricing rules. Other taxable income can be taxed at 9%.

When must a new UAE company register for Corporate Tax?

Within three months of incorporation, for companies incorporated on or after 1 March 2024, including free zone companies. Late registration carries an AED 10,000 penalty.

Can you guarantee my visa or bank account?

No. The immigration authorities decide on visas and banks decide on accounts. We prepare complete applications and track every step.

Who incorporates my company?

Finanshels is your single point of contact. A licensed fulfilment partner, named on your quote, carries out the authority filings.
